The USL Sarasota Group includes the USL of Clearwater franchise, a business managed by Red Schwindt since 1992. Under Schwindt's leadership, USL of Clearwater was honored with two beautification awards this year: one from the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs and one from the Builders and Office Managers Association (BOMA).
In addition to local honors, the Clearwater operation also received the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs' 1st Place Award for Bayshore Place in Tampa. Tami Lea Horsky of Highwoods Properties, manager of Bayshore Place, said, "Our property's lawns and its garden areas are a tribute to the quality of horticultural care we get from the U.S. Lawns team."
USL of Clearwater was also presented with the BOMA Regional Award for One Metro Plaza in Tampa, which is recognition of outstanding quality and customer care for commercial landscape maintenance contractors.
Carlo credits the success of Clearwater's landscape maintenance program to Schwindt's continued efforts, praising him as an "extremely loyal, gifted horticulturist and well respected among his co-workers."
U.S. Lawns Of South Nashville Doubles Growth After First Year
ORLANDO, Fla. - USL of South Nashville ended its first fiscal year with record growth. Owned and operated by Gene and Lyn Robertson, USL of South Nashville provides lawn and landscape maintenance services to commercial properties, corporate campuses, and retail and industrial properties throughout the south Nashville, Tenn., metropolitan area. The Robertsons experienced a first-year sales growth of 906 percent.
Gene Robertson, a Tennessee-Certified Nursery Professional (TCNP), owned two previous landscape businesses prior to his USL franchise. Robertson converted his Lawn and Landscape Systems into a USL franchise in 1999 and led it to become a leading provider of landscape maintenance services in the Nashville area. Currently, his business services the area's Archstone Apartment Communities and AmSouth Banks. Gene's dedication and achievement garnered him USLs' Rookie of the Year Award for 2001.
Before converting Lawn and Landscape Systems into a USL franchise, Robertson built up his business by 500 percent. His sales-driven approach has continued to benefit the business and has necessitated the hiring of two additional employees, one of whom is certified Level 3 in USL Gardener Training.
"We're very pleased with Gene's success," said USL Vice President Ken Hutcheson. "His entrepreneurial spirit and customer service commitment are a perfect fit for the U.S. Lawns model."
