Unilock has opened applications for its Paving the Future Scholarship, an initiative that invests in the next generation of landscape architects, construction professionals and designers.
Now in its fourth year, the scholarship was established in 2022 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Unilock. Since its inception, the scholarship has awarded $225,000 to students studying landscape architecture, landscape construction, and related fields across the U.S. and Ontario, Canada.
For the first time, the scholarship is open to students enrolled in architecture programs. This expansion acknowledges the role architects also play in shaping our outdoor environments.
“The Unilock Paving the Future Scholarship commemorates my father [Ed Bryant]’s legacy by investing in a new generation of landscape design, architecture and construction leaders,” says Andrew Bryant, president and CEO, Unilock. “We’re proud to offer this scholarship for another year.”
Applicants are selected based on academic achievement, leadership potential and a short essay describing their passion for the industry and long-term career goals. Beyond financial support, the scholarship also connects recipients with educational resources offered by Unilock.
“I was a recipient for the Unilock Paving the Future Scholarship when I was a senior at University of Massachusetts Amherst,” says Luviana McLean, 2023 Recipient, “That (scholarship) is what allowed me to cover my moving costs when I accepted a full-time position at Stantec, a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture and environmental consulting, where I now work as a Landscape Designer.”
Applications for this year’s scholarship are open through October 31, 2025, with winners to be announced in November 2025.
