VALDOSTA, Ga. – Phoenix Environmental Care has added disaster relief for victims of the Mississippi Gulf Coast tragedy to the list of programs qualifying for the company’s PERKs program. “Now end-users may choose to have the qualifying donation go to the American Red Cross when they participate in the PERKs program,” says Owen Towne, president of Phoenix Environmental Care. Phoenix announced the PERKs purchaser incentive program last month.
In addition, Phoenix will double the disaster relief contribution from all qualifying September sales. “In other words, the donation percent will go from 3 to 6 percent or from 4 to 8 percent, depending on the level of participation,” says Towne. “It is vital that we all find ways to support the people in that area, and this one way we can do that as a company and as an industry.”
The PERKs program provides purchasers of Phoenix Environmental Care products with incentives that may be converted into donations, contributions or sponsorships of turf-related activities and organizations. Other qualifying organizations include the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and its local chapters, turfgrass associations, university turf programs and the Wee One Foundation. Qualifying Phoenix Environmental Care products are Kestrel brand propiconazole fungicide, Firebird GC brand bifenthrin insecticide, Pegasus L and Pegasus DF brand chlorothalanil and Vital fungicide.
Qualification for the PERKs program starts with a minimum purchase of $5,000 worth of qualifying products between Aug. 1 and Sept. 30, 2005. This entitles the purchaser to a 3-percent credit that can be converted to the turf or educational organization of their choice. Purchases of $20,000 or more will earn a 4-percent credit. “But keep in mind, those percentages double for disaster relief donations made from September sales,” reminds Towne.
