WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Valent U.S.A. announced that Trevor Thorley will assume the position of president and chief operating officer of the company on July 1.
“Thorley brings a wealth of experience to Valent, having enjoyed a 20-year career in the global agricultural business community, most recently serving as senior vice president, marketing and sales, with the agricultural division of Bayer Corp.,” pointed out Masayo Tada, a member of Sumitomo Chemical Co.’s and Valent’s board of directors.
Thorley has held increasingly responsible sales, marketing and general management positions within the Bayer group of companies in the crop protection, garden and professional care businesses since joining Bayer UK, Ltd., in 1981. “I am looking forward to working with the excellent people at Valent,” Thorley said. “My first focus for the corporation will be to provide the leadership and empowerment to complete 2002 results and set the stage for the future.”
Tada, who took the position as leader of Valent while the company sought a new president, said both Valent and Sumitomo will carry on in their commitment to the United States market.
“The U.S. will continue to be a key strategic market in the global business strategy of Sumitomo, with Valent as the core of our U.S. business structure,” he added. “I have every confidence that Trevor’s experience and proven executive skills will enhance Valent’s efforts to attain both its short- and long-term goals.”
