ValleyCrest Cos. added to its offerings in the Southeast by acquiring Second Nature, a landscape maintenance company based in Hilton Head, S.C. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Second Nature Landscape, formed by Steve Clark and Ed McCullough in 2003, performs landscape maintenance for homeowner and property owner associations, resorts, hotels and other commercial properties on Hilton Head Island. The award-winning company currently serves over 75 multi-unit complexes.
“This acquisition marks another key step as we implement our long-range service strategy to have the best team in every market to fully satisfy our customers with the highest quality work,” says Roger J. Zino, president, ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance. “Hilton Head Island is a unique landscape environment and we believe that this partnering with Second Nature, a strong and talented local team, will allow us to make a real difference for our customers.”
ValleyCrest, which ranked No. 2 on Lawn & Landscape's 2007 list of the 100 top revenue-earning lawn care and landscape companies, has been active in the Southeast in recent months. The company announced in December it acquired Atlanta-based Scapes.
Commenting on the acquisition, Clark noted that he and McCullough, who with their team will remain with ValleyCrest, are excited about the union.
Zino adds: "We see great similarities in Second Nature’s culture with our own and this excites us. The island’s history is as extraordinary as its landscape. ValleyCrest’s passion for horticulture and its commitment to integrate sound resource management principles with landscape best practices is certainly consistent with Hilton Head’s focus on preserving the island’s native vegetation, wetlands, beaches and trees.”
