Vestil Manufacturing Corp. announced it would add 50 jobs and invest $2 million in an 80,000-square-foot plant it bought recently in Angola, Ind.
The jobs will pay $13 to 13.50 an hour, Vestil Vice President Barry Trine said.
The company will begin hiring clerical staff and production workers immediately as it prepares to open the plant in January.
The family-owned Vestil opened its doors in 1957. Its workforce has grown to 350, and in January, it will be operating in four buildings in and around Angola, Ind.
The company designs and manufactures devices used on loading docks, overhead lifting, packaging and ergonomics.
One example is an all-terrain, gas-powered dump hopper. It’s a motorized lawn cart with a powered dumper on it. The device is used in the landscaping industry and for other applications.
Several Vestil designs have been patented and several more are pending, sales coordinator Ryan Funkhouse said.
Vestil’s products are finding new markets. Of its $82 million in annual gross revenue, about 10 percent comes from international sales, Trine said, with much of that from Canada.
Daniels said he hopes other Hoosier companies will learn from Vestil’s success.
“You can beat the world from right here in Angola,” the governor said.
