The Virginia Nursery & Landscape Association (VNLA) announces the 2005 Nursery and Landscape Field Day August 4, 2005, at Riverbend Nursery, Riner, Virginia. Field Day 2005 begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. and includes demonstrations, speakers, tours, a plant ID challenge, silent plant auction, competitions, research and educational displays and exhibits of new equipment, products and services.
The educational programs, which are scheduled from 9:45 a.m. to 3 p.m., include the following presentations and speakers:
- New Perennials, Becky Moss, Riverbend Nursery
- Reducing the Risk in Marketing Perennials, John Barbieri, Mark Huber, Riverbend
- Automated Environmental Controls & Irrigation, Joe Dalton, Dave Shell, Q-Com Corp.
- Reducing the Risk of Sudden Environmental Changes with Retractable Roof Greenhouses, Richard Vollebregt, Cravo Equipment
- Bulletproof Perennials for Risk Free Installations, Holly Scoggins, Virginia Tech
In addition to the educational program, there will be educational exhibits and demonstrations to visit and a silent auction conducted by the Southwest Nursery and Landscape Association. Field Day 2005 also includes lunch by Brush Creek Buffalo Farm, a volleyball tournament, plant ID contest, skidsteer rodeo contest, a Liriope toss and tubing on the New River.
