Vote To Name America’s National Tree

The National Arbor Day Foundation is offering the general public the chance to name a national tree for the United States.

LINCOLN, Neb. - The National Arbor Day Foundation is offering the general public the chance to name a national tree for the United States. Voting for the national tree runs through April 26, 2001 - the day before Arbor Day - on the foundation’s web site at www.arborday.org.

Voters may write in votes on the Arbor Day site or choose from the following list of the 21 state trees:

  • Birch
  • Buckeye
  • Cottonwood (Poplar)
  • Dogwood
  • Douglasfir
  • Elm
  • Hemlock
  • Holly
  • Kukui
  • Magnolia
  • Maple
  • Oak
  • Palm
  • Paloverde
  • Pecan (Hickory)
  • Pine
  • Redbud
  • Redwood
  • Spruce
  • Tuliptree

The National Arbor Day Foundation will announce the winner as America’s National Tree on National Arbor Day April 27.
