“Many of our customers have purchased WeatherBug Plus in our online store as a gift for a friend or family member,” said Pete Celano, vice president of marketing for WeatherBug. “Since it’s difficult to find ‘gift wrap’ for an electronic software code, we decided to make it available at retail stores across the country. This is part of our commitment to make our unique live local weather information easily available everywhere and on any device.”
WeatherBug has established a variety of ways for consumer and business users to access the proprietary weather information gathered from its exclusive nationwide weather tracking network. This not only includes free and premium versions of its downloadable software application WeatherBug, but also SMS alerts, a Windows Mobile™ Smartphone application, and on-air distribution through partnerships with more than 100 local TV station affiliates.
“WeatherBug has successfully developed an easy-to-use product that makes local weather come alive on any PC or laptop,” said Brian Burke, Chief Operating Office of Navarre Distribution Services. “We believe they will establish a new software category for something that touches everyone, everyday: weather. We look forward to working with the entire WeatherBug team assisting them in extending their products’ reach with our retail customer base.”
WeatherBug Plus can be purchased at www.weatherbug.com or any major retail outlet for $19.95. WeatherBug, available at www.WeatherBug.com, had 19 million unique visitors in June 2005 and is ranked as top 10 Internet property in daily reach and loyalty, according to comScore Media Metrix.
