DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. - WeServeHomes.com (www.weservehomes.com), the ServiceMaster- and Kleiner Perkins-backed start-up that allows homeowners to select, schedule and purchase home services online or by telephone 24 hours a day, announced the opening of its business in Chicago, Memphis, Baltimore and Washington D.C. The company was previously live in Dallas, Houston and Austin, Texas, and will be available in 50 major markets in the spring of 2001, according to the company.
The web site connects homeowners with contractors from ServiceMaster-brand contracting companies, including TruGreen-ChemLawn. Homeowners interested in lawn and landscape services request quotes and schedule service calls online. The requests are processed through WeServeHomes.com, and the services are performed by TruGreen-ChemLawn branches.
“WeServeHomes.com accepts orders, organizes service delivery and handles all the administrative details,” said Kenneth Hooten, president and co-founder. “We offer homeowners access to and prioritized scheduling of leading national and local brands and guarantee their work 100 percent, assuming total responsibility for complete customer satisfaction.”
WeServeHomes.com is currently 84 percent owned by ServiceMaster, which supports the company through co-branding efforts, trademark licensing, access to its base of U.S. customers and access to its third-party contractor relationships. In addition, ServiceMaster contributed its call center, which now integrated into WeServeHomes.com's own customer care center.
