The Gehl Company, a manufacturer of Gehl brand compact equipment used
in construction and agriculture applications, awarded the free use of a 5240E skid-steer loader for six months or 250 hours (whichever comes first) to the Oechsner family of Mayville, Wis. at the Wisconsin Farm Technology Days, held in July 2008.
Andy and Missy Oechsner work full-time at their 100-head dairy farm which they purchased in Jan. 2005 from Andy’s parents. While Missy cares for the herd and handles the bookkeeping, Andy works approximately 300 acres of farmland to produce feed and to raise beans as a cash crop when rotation allows. They
also make time to raise their two children, Kaitlyn and Blake.
The 5240E skid loader joins the Gehl 4840 Skid Loader that the Oechsners purchased in 2005. “We’ve always had a Gehl skid loader on the farm,” says Andy. “Gehl machines are smooth and simple to operate.”
Although Missy had been brought up using skid-steer loaders with hand/foot-type controls, the ease of using the Gehl hands-only controls made the transition to Gehl skid loaders effortless. “Plus, we’re not fixing them all the time,” adds Missy.
Gehl Company is a manufacturer of equipment used worldwide in construction and agricultural applications. Founded in 1859, the company is headquartered in West Bend, Wis. For more information, visit www.gehl.com or contact the Gehl literature hotline at 800/628-0491.
