PLOVER, Wis. – The Plover Area Business Association (PABA) has named Rettler Corp., its 2004 Business of the Year.
"It's an up-and-coming, progressive company that I think has had a lot of community involvement," said PABA vice president Mark Erbes. "That's what we're promoting, community enhancement."
Rettler Corp. has donated its services on several projects in the community, including the village enhancement study for Plover. The company also worked on the skate park in Plover and the Ice Hawks Arena in Stevens Point. Rick Rettler, president, said that service in the community is the business' responsibility. "It's always nice to offer those services," he said.
Employees worked for free putting the village enhancement ideas of Plover leaders and PABA members down on paper. Rettler Corp. is a member of PABA and Rettler is the PABA vice president-elect for 2004-05.
Rettler Corp. is a site-based consulting firm with services that include landscaping, architecture, engineering, site maintenance, land surveying, golf course architecture, construction management and irrigation design. It was one of six businesses nominated for the recognition.
The PABA Board of Directors annually chooses a business of the year based on several criteria. The award can be given to any size business in the Plover area that is a PABA member. It must also have exhibited continued financial stability and development.
The purpose of the award is to promote business in the community, Erbes said.
Rettler is pleased with the recognition, which he said is for all employees at Rettler Corp. He also plans to continue the company's involvement with PABA.
"The Plover Area Business Association is a very motivated group of people, not just in Plover but in the community," Rettler said.
Rettler participates with PABA and the Portage County Business Council because of the work that each organization does and the people involved. The knowledge of each member allows important collaborations in the community, he said.
"These community boards offer the opportunity to bring these expertise to the same table," he said.
