Wright Service Corporation has purchased Heard Gardens and will fold its operation into its subsidiary company, Wright Tree Care, a company that up until now has specialized in tree-related services such as trimming, fertilization, stump removal and yard maintenance. The sale was finalized Jan.12.
Wright Tree Care plans to move its Waukee, Iowa, office and establish its entire operation at the Heard Gardens location in West Des Moines, this spring. The existing facility will be enlarged and operate under the new name of Wright Tree Care and Heard Gardens.
“The merger of these two well-respected businesses will allow us to expand our tree care operation into the landscaping, nursery and gardening areas, enhancing the legacy that Heard Gardens has built over its 78 years in central Iowa,” said Scott Packard, president and CEO of Wright Service Corp.
Linda Wright, who is President of Wright Tree Care, a 74 year old firm, will continue as President of the newly formed company.
“We will continue to offer our traditional tree care and yard maintenance services from our Waukee office while we move our operation to the Heard Gardens location,” Wright said.
Wright plans to re-open the nursery and garden center as usual on April 1. Wright Tree Care’s other two locations in Kansas City, Mo. and Tulsa, Okla. will also expand their services to include a nursery and garden center.
Bob Rennebohm, former owner of Heard Gardens, will continue to be involved with the new company. “This was an outstanding opportunity to blend two of the premier members of the green industry into a one-stop source for every service needed outside the home,” Rennebohm said.
Another subsidiary of Wright Service Corporation, Wright Tree Service, with headquarters in West Des Moines, is involved in line clearing and other vegetation management services for utility companies such as MidAmerican Energy Company in a 24 state area from California to Michigan and from Minnesota to Texas.
