NEW MILFORD, CT – YardApes, Inc. founder Shayne Newman presented a check totaling $8,000 at last month’s MVP-SOS fundraising dinner, wine tasting and silent auction. Newman raised funds for the volunteer non-profit organization by sponsoring and organizing the fourth annual Bob Rasor Memorial Golf Classic, held at The Bulls Bridge Golf Course in August.
The tournament’s proceeds mark a four year total of $32,500 that the YardApes Charity Fund has contributed to MVP-SOS (mvpsos.com), an organization supporting New Milford’s youth in academic and athletic endeavors.
Run entirely by volunteers, the 2009 Bob Rasor Memorial Golf Classic raised $8,000 primarily through sponsorships and donations from local businesses and residents. With more than 100 golfers in attendance, raffle ticket sales and a silent auction added to the success of the event.
“There’s no better way to build character and esteem in kids than through academic and athletic programs and the mentoring inherent in each," Newman said. "MVP-SOS continues to build momentum and that’s my hope for the Golf Classic as well.”
